Online conference of the Share City project will run from September 22nd to September 24th with a diverse line up of talks about food sharing from researchers and practitioners. Watch the videos available here. The videos will be available two weeks after the conference.

The annual Agriculture, Food & Human Values Society conference will take place in Athens, Georgia, from 27 to 30 May, 2020. The theme will be food justice, with a keynote by Monica White. This is a great interdisciplinary food systems conference, co-sponsored by the Association for the Study of Food & Society; and this upcoming conference should be especially interesting. The Tenth International Conference on Food Studies will be held at Marymount Manhattan College, New York City, New York, 17–18 October 2020. The deadline for early bird registration is on the 17 January 2020. More information about the conference is available here.

Plant Health, Agriculture & Bioscience Conference will take place between 9 and ​11 September 2020 in The Hague, Netherlands. The subtitle of the conference is: From invasive species, to crop management practices & digital solutions. The PHAB 2020 Conference aims to connect various stakeholders in the plant health field, on a broad range of topics to enable a sustainable future. One of the fourth thematic tracks of the conference is The future of food. A conference named Anthropology and Geography: Dialogues Past, Present, and Future will be hosted on 4–7 June 2020 by The Royal Anthropological Institute, The British Academy, The British Museum, the Royal Geographical Society and SOAS University of London. Within this conference, a panel Mapping the Edible City: Making visible communities and food in the city, is convened by Ferne Edwards (RMIT), Katrin Bohn (UoB) and André Viljoen (UoB). It welcomes inputs from anthropologists, geographers and other disciplines engaged with urban space to explore the emergence and possibilities for urban food mapping practices. World Food Day, organised by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), will take place on 16 October. This year it is all about inspiring action for healthy diets, promoting “healthy eating and zero hunger as a way of life”. All about the events and promotional activities happening worldwide for World Food Day is available here.

The week from 16 to 24 November is European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR). It is an initiative promoting the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management. It encourages a wide range of audiences (public authorities, private companies, civil society as well as citizens themselves) to get involved. From May 29 to June 1 2020, Vienna will host a thematic degrowth conference. The four-day conference will focus on exploring transformations and the role of strategy for a degrowth transformation and thoroughly reflect on existing strategies amongst practitioners, activists, and academics. It is hosted by the association Degrowth Vienna as well as several university institutes from Vienna. A call for contributions is out now, you can find it here.
